Architects G.C. Wins Match of Cards in Lincoln Pro Am at Trump National
/BEDMINSTER, NJ – Led by Head Golf Professional Chris McDermott, The Architects Golf Club's squad was victorious in the match of cards at the Lincoln Pro-Am held at Trump National in Bedminster last Thursday. McDermott and his amateur playing partners, long-time Architects member Richard "Doc" Goga, Loyalty Member Kevin Thompson and Peter Kinkel, defeated Metcuhen GCCC with a team total of 14-under par, 130. McDermott and his team turned up the heat on the back 9 with a team score of 63, which was five shots better than Metuchen, who scored 68 over that stretch. "It was a great day. It was nice to get out to a a club with the members that you normally can't play. It's a great perk of the Architects membership package," said McDermott about playing with the Architects team. When asked about the team's play, Chris said, "I feel I played well. I had an Eagle on a par 5 and the guys had birdies on several holes. We were actually pretty surprised that our score held up for a win. Typically the winning team needs a lower score than what we had. I guess we got a little lucky in the end. We didn't make any major mistakes. Somebody always had a good hole and that's the way to win them. Overall it was a great day."
With the win, Architects is now qualified to play in the Pro-Am Championship at Plainfield Country Club in September. All of the winning Pro-Am teams from the season are invited to compete.
